What is Reverse Osmosis (RO)? | RO Water Treatment Plant in Bangladesh

Reverse Osmosis (RO) is a membrane separation water purification procedure wherein feed water flows alongside the membrane floor below strain. Purified water permeates the membrane and is collected, even as the focused water, containing dissolved and undissolved fabric that doesn’t float via the membrane, is discharged to the drain.

The key necessities of Reverse Osmosis (RO) procedure are a membrane and water below strain. Other necessities consist of prefiltration to dispose of suspended impurities and carbon to dispose of chlorine (damages the membrane).

Most membranes dispose of ninety-99+ % of the dissolved impurities relying at the impurity and the composition of water.

Reverse Osmosis, mixed with pre-filtration, is capable of dispose of ninety to 99.99% of the dissolved impurities that are living for your water.

Reverse osmosis systems (RO Systems) dispose of salts, microorganisms and lots of excessive molecular weight organics. System ability relies upon at the water temperature, overall dissolved solids in feed water, running strain and the general recuperation of the system.

Reverse Osmosis Membrane Process

Reverse Osmosis Membrane is common membrane materials include polyamide thin film composites (TFC), cellulose acetate (CA) and cellulose triacetate (CTA) with the membrane material being spiral wound around a tube, or hollow fibres bundled together.  In the reverse osmosis process cellophane-like membranes separate purified water from contaminated water. RO is when a pressure is applied to the concentrated side of the membrane forcing purified water into the dilute side, the rejected impurities from the concentrated side being washed away in the reject water.

Factors affecting system and process performance

The performance of a system depends on factors such as membrane type, flow control, feed water quality, temperature and pressure.  Also only part of the water entering the unit is useable, this is called the % recovery. This is affected by the factors listed above. Reverse Osmosis Systems must be well maintained to ensure good performance with any fouling requiring cleaning maximizing the output of water. Biocides may be needed and the choice of biocide would depend on the membrane type, alternatively other filters may be required to remove chlorine from water to protect the life of the membranes.
